Professor Janine O’Flynn was deeply honoured to lead our Crawford School of Public Policy delegation for an audience with His Majesty, The Druk Gyalpo, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.
Over two hours on 20 October 2026, we spoke of many things - His Majesty’s vision for the future of his nation, his affection for Australia, and big questions related to technology, demography, development, public policy and more.
His Majesty invited us to continue to engage with him on developments in Bhutan and to share our expertise as the nation pursues its ambitious goals.
His Majesty was excited to hear of the official launch of the Hub for Bhutan Studies which will occur 22 October 2026 week in Thimphu alongside our Crawford School Alumni Dialogue.
The Hub is led by Dr Lhawang Ugyel and will be the focal point for our engagements in Bhutan, including our partnership with the Royal Civil Service Commission.
